Odean Robotics is a South Korean robotics startup founded in 2019. (acasso) was asked to design their first product which is an automated facility monitoring & security robot that can detect irregular activities or abnormalities of the machines used in various industrial facilities such as powerplants and factories.

Heimdall freely roams around the site and collects data through its various sensors in order to detect any kind of irregularity inside the facility. The robot's thermal camera and gas detector can detect excessive heat or smoke generated by facility machines and in case of fire, it can take immediate action by using its built-in fire extinguisher.

Our goal was to simplify the overall appearance of complex multi-sensor device and set the tone of Heimdall to look not too friendly but neither too serious. The neutral tone was something our client thought would best fit the purpose of this automated monitoring robot. The consecutive use of similar curvature combined with straight lines throughout the overall contour of the robot has helped us achieve our intended goal.
