‘Subset Chair’ 작품감상
슈퍼셋은 '서브셋 바이 슈퍼셋(subset by superset)'이라는 별도의 디자인 레이블을 운영하고 있습니다. 서브셋은 슈퍼셋 디자이너들의 아이디어를 더욱 강력하고 유희성 있게 표현하는 것을 목표로, 소품부터 가구, 전시까지 다양한 아이템을 아우르며 이 레이블을 통해 제작된 디자인과 제품을 판매합니다.
'서브셋 바이 슈퍼셋'에서 출시하는 첫 번째 디자인 작품인 '체어 01(Chair 01)'은 전통적인 미적 요소를 발굴하고 슈퍼셋의 관점에서 현대적으로 재해석하여 디자인한 의자입니다. 먼저, 한국의 전통적인 형태(점, 선, 면)를 연구하고 이를 디자인적으로 어떻게 표현할지 고민했습니다. 도출된 한국적인 디자인 요소를 바탕으로 의자의 형태와 비율을 구체적으로 디자인했습니다. 동일한 디자인 요소를 사용했지만, 각 유형은 서로 다른 느낌을 전달했습니다.
슈퍼셋 스튜디오는 우리가 표현하고자 하는 느낌을 완벽하게 전달하기 위해 최종 디자인을 슬림하게 디자인했기 때문에 각 요소의 조합에 세심한 주의를 기울여야 했습니다. 이를 위해 다리와 몸체의 구조적 결합에 대한 독창적인 방법을 고안했습니다.
Superset operates a separate design label called ‘subset by superset.’ The purpose of Subset is to express the ideas of Superset designers in a more powerful and playful way, covering a wide range of items from small objects to furniture and exhibitions, while selling the designs and products created under this label.
Chair 01 is the first design to be released by ‘subset by superset.’
It is a chair designed by discovering traditional aesthetic elements and reinterpreting them in a modern way from a Superset perspective. First of all, we studied traditional Korean forms and considered how to express them in design (points, lines, and surfaces). We created specific chair shapes and proportions based on the Korean design elements we derived. Although the same design elements were used, each type conveyed a different feeling.
Superset Studio had to pay attention to the combination of each element because the final design was intended to be slim in order to perfectly convey the feeling we aimed to express. That is why we designed a unique method for the structural combination of the legs and the body.
