Squish is a lighting designed for Gantri, an innovative 3D printing manufacturing company based in San Francisco. The light is a playful interpretation of the classic lightbulb shape. Conceptually, we treated Gantri’s 3D printing material to be soft and malleable, where we then took the head of a typical lightbulb shape and squished it flat, creating a familiar yet whimsical character. The shape can be easily 3D printed in a single piece enabling efficient production, and the base that holds the LED light component is also made of the same material for a simplified look that gives it a friendly sculptural presence.
